Decision... The Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation's Board of Trustees, upon recommendation of the National Convention Body in 1971, adopted the National Kidney Foundation to be the prime recipient of our support. Due to Phi Sigma Sigma's commitment to women's health issues, the NKF was chosen as the national philanthropy. At that time, kidney disease was the leading crippler of women. To date, Phi Sigma Sigma has contributed over ,000 to NKF.
In recent years, Phi Sigma Sigma has worked with the National Kidney Foundation to specifically allocate the funds it has donated. It has supported special projects such as NKF's Blood Pressure pamphlet, the educational slide show "From Treatment to Cure", a Kidney Camp for patients and their families, and donations to families stricken with kidney disease.

The Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation's 1990-94 grant to the National Kidney Foundation made an 800 telephone information line for the Information Center possible. The center provides the NKF with a new, computerized phone system to assist with the 1,100 plus phone calls it receives every week. When callers reach the information line the message says "...sponsored by a grant from the Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation." Callers to the center can request informational brochures and pamphlets explaining kidney disease, urinary tract disease, and organ donation.
In 1995 the Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation sponsoredthe National Kidney Foundation's Summer Kidney Camp Directory for kidney camps nationwide.Phi Sigma Sigma is truly an international organization, and in recognition of the philanthropic fundraising performed by the Canadian Chapters, a proportionate annual contribution is made to the National Kidney Foundation of Canada.
